Mizkan at Woodlands
Woodlands is a specialty independent running 3 Bay Area stores, small-format at about 2,336 sq ft each, indexing high on clean-organic versus other Bay Area grocers.
Mizkan isn’t on Woodlands’ shelf yet in any of its 3 stores. The opening: 2 categories where the shelf is already deep and the brand runs strong elsewhere.
Lead with Natural Rice Vinegar in Rice Vinegar.
Woodlands stocks rice vinegar thinly, so a differentiated snack stands out instead of becoming the Nth option on a crowded shelf. It already earns space at 1 other Bay Area grocer.
The more differentiated opening is rice vinegar: Woodlands stocks only 5 there, so Mizkan Natural Rice Vinegar stands out rather than blending in.
