Plaza Mayor at Woodlands
Woodlands is a specialty independent running 3 Bay Area stores, small-format at about 2,336 sq ft each, indexing high on clean-organic versus other Bay Area grocers.
Plaza Mayor isn’t on Woodlands’ shelf yet in any of its 3 stores. The opening: 1 category where the shelf is already deep and the brand runs strong elsewhere.
Lead with Fig Cake With Almonds in Other Cakes.
Woodlands stocks other cakes thinly, so a differentiated snack stands out instead of becoming the Nth option on a crowded shelf. It already earns space at 1 other Bay Area grocer.
The more differentiated opening is other cakes: Woodlands stocks only 8 there, so Plaza Mayor Fig Cake With Almonds stands out rather than blending in.
Woodlands merchandises 2 of the 2 categories the brand sells.
no strong clean/diet signal either way.
brand excitement 40/100.
enters a thin other cakes shelf as a point of difference.
The full runway · across 3 stores
Every category Plaza Mayor plays in across the Bay Area grocers we track, and where it stands at Woodlands. Depth is the distinct SKUs the store carries there versus the fleet median, shown next to the rival brands already on that shelf.
Not here yet, but the shelf is real: a clean first door into a category the brand runs deep in.
The store barely carries this category, so it is a hard sell.
What to bring to land
Plaza Mayor’s SKUs Woodlands doesn’t carry yet, ordered by how many other Bay Area grocers already stock them.
